A Lesson Well Learned

'OH LA LA!' - 23/06/2018. French Farm - Akaroa Harbour.

I have to confess I was taught a valuable lesson on Sunday morning just passed. Getting up at 5am and on the road not long later for a planned day trip to Banks Peninsula seemed harder than usual and I was tempted to turn back.

It turned out to be a magnificent day though and by the time I was on the road home some 12 hours later, I realised it was probably one of the quickest day of my photography life. It really did fly by so quickly.

Sometimes it seems our sunrises and sunsets here are just overloaded with colour, but the atmosphere in New Zealand has a clarity about it that is perhaps unrivaled anywhere else in the Southern Hemisphere being a small island nation surrounded by a lot of ocean. Though I can't say this for sure. It's just a thought.
I actually had to desaturate the colour in this image as it was just over the top right out of the camera.

Below is the first capture of my day. Not a bad start, eh!??
And this is not even my favourite capture of the day.
A lesson well learned!
